Stay out of it, Nick Lachey!

Tuesday, 26. January 2010 10:41

About a week and a half ago, my friend Leah and I went up to Cincinnati to watch Spring Awakening.  If you haven’t heard of or seen the show, check out the website!  The touring cast is incredible.  The show itself is full of difficult themes and the actors manage to bring so much truth to something that they do over and over every night.

I’ve seen this show three times in the past eight months or so, and one cast member in particular always impresses me.  Sarah Hunt plays Martha, a young girl who has a difficult homelife.  She sings The Dark I Know and is sobbing every night afterwards.  I was fortunate enough to be sitting onstage in a seat next to one she takes when she finishes singing and, if I could have, I would have given her a great big hug, instead I gave her a little smile, as we weren’t supposed to interact with the cast.

Sitting onstage offers another benefit, besides being so close to the performance that you are even a part of it;  you get to see entire audience.  Just as the lights were about to go down, who is brought in along with a blonde and a brunette?  Nick Lachey.  Now, I am rather indifferent to him.  I know who he is, I know he was in a boy band, I know he used to be married to Jessica Simpson, and now I know that he is also from Cincinnati.  Now, I watch The Soup on E! and while those around me were whispering about him being in the audience, all I could think of was Joel McHale showing a clip from One Tree Hill where a girl looks at him and says, “Stay out of it, Nick Lachey!

Let Me Eat Cake!

Tuesday, 5. January 2010 22:34

I am in a huge mood to eat cake today. Actually, I’ve been wanting cake for about 2 weeks now. I’ve just been in a cake-y mood. I’ve been toying with the idea of making Brazilian Carrot Cake but really don’t want to go through the actual work of making cake. I want something way better than just grocery store cake too.

In fact… I want CUPCAKES!

Not just any cupcakes either. I am craving cupcakes from BabyCakes.  They are this awesome little shop in Lexington and thei cupcakes are delicious.  I’m particularly fond of their coconut ones.  Yum.  They are well worth the drive from my house (which can take more than 1/2 an hour).
